Updated: Service resuming after all métro lines shut down by equipment failure

The interruption began around 5:30 a.m.

What transit officials described as an electrical equipment failure forced the shutdown Thursday morning of the entirety of Montreal’s métro system. Service was reported to be restored on all lines as of 6:20 a.m.

The interruption began around 5:30 a.m. and blacked out the Green and Orange Lines servicing downtown, the Yellow Line to Longueuil and the Blue Line connecting Snowdon and St-Michel stations.

Commuters may face crowding the as the backlog of passengers created by the interruption board trains.
