The sun isn’t shining as brightly or nearly as long and the seasonal rains are a-falling. So, yeah, it’s October.

That’s when live music moves indoors. The major tours that take a break for festival appearances start up their next legs through North America. And the Vancouver concert calendars start filing up as this city is rarely missed these days by artists of any genre.

This month certainly reflects that with some nostalgic romps back to the 1990s, some emotional noise, a few rising stars and a benefit show full of classic stars.

Here are 5 must-see shows this month.

Loverboy
Canadian rockers Loverboy will perform at Rock Beats CancerALL

Rock Beats Cancer

Conceived by the late local rock drumming legend Rocket Norton as he was going through his own cancer battle, the two previous versions of this B.C. Cancer Foundation fundraiser for the personalized Onco-Genomics (POG) Program has raised over $600,000. Since all donations to the PCO program are matched by the Federal Government of Canada, the impact of ticket and auction donations are doubled. If that isn’t enough to make this an obvious entertainment outing, how about the lineup of members of such Canadian legends as Loverboy, Chilliwack, Powder Blues Band, Lee Aaron, Barney Bentall, Tropper’s hotshots, Streetheart and the Seeds of Time? Talk about some heavy hit makers.
