The Post’s college football rankings, Heisman watch following Week 5

Here are The Post’s college football rankings following Week 5:

1. Alabama (4-0) (Last week: 4)

New Crimson Tide coach Kalen DeBoer is 30-3 as a power-conference head coach after winning his SEC opener in dramatic fashion over Georgia. Nick who?

2. Texas (5-0) (2)

Now, we wait on the status of Quinn Ewers (oblique strain). As well as Arch Manning has played in Ewers’ absence in three straight easy wins, Ewers is still the guy, and Texas will need him as the schedule stiffens in two weeks against Oklahoma.

3. Ohio State (4-0) (3)

The Buckeyes’ Big Ten opener went exactly like its three non-conference wins: a blowout. Michigan State never had a chance.

4. Georgia (3-1) (1)

Carson Beck threw more interceptions (three) against Alabama than he had in his previous 10 games (two). The last one in the end zone, with Georgia driving for the game-tying touchdown in the final minute, was the killer.

5. Tennessee (4-0) (5)

The mission: Avoid a letdown against Arkansas and Florida. It will be difficult for Tennessee not to look ahead to the Oct. 19 clash with Alabama in Knoxville.

6. Oregon (4-0) (7)

The Ducks are finding their form, backing up their pasting of Oregon State by blowing away UCLA. One more tune-up, against Michigan State, before Ohio State comes to Eugene in two weeks.

7. Penn State (4-0) (9)

The Nittany Lions have allowed 10 points in their last 10 quarters. They held Illinois to 34 rushing yards and forced two turnovers in a dominant performance to improve to 4-0.

8. Ole Miss (4-1) (6)

In previous years, Ole Miss’ home loss to Kentucky would’ve nearly eliminated them from playoff contention. Not anymore. Plus, Kentucky is better than expected, having nearly upset Georgia two weeks ago.

9. Miami (5-0) (NR)

For the first time since 2017, Miami is 5-0, and while there are no marquee wins on the ledger — it barely got past Virginia Tech on Friday night at home — the Hurricanes will certainly take it after going 12-13 the previous two seasons.

10. Missouri (4-0) (10)

Prediction: The Tigers’ undefeated fun ends Saturday in College Station. Winners of four in a row, Texas A&M will expose them as pretenders.

Dropped out: Utah (4-1)

Heisman Watch (in alphabetical order)

QB Dillon Gabriel, Oregon

That’s now seven straight games with at least multiple touchdown passes for Gabriel, who is looking more comfortable in his new surroundings.

WR/CB Travis Hunter, Colorado

Hunter hit the Heisman pose after making an acrobatic, diving interception against UCF on Saturday. He, of course, added nine catches for 89 yards and a touchdown. The do-it-all Colorado star is making an early case for a trip to New York City in December.

RB Ashton Jeanty, Boise State

Whatever Jeanty is making through NIL, it’s not enough. The junior leads the country with 845 rushing yards after torching Washington State for 259 yards on the ground and four scores in a blowout victory.

QB Jalen Milroe, Alabama

He’s my leader the final week of September after piling up 491 total yards and four touchdowns in a dramatic win over Georgia.

QB Cam Ward, Miami

The Hurricanes’ defense upped the level of difficulty for Ward, who was up to the challenge, producing 400 yards of offense and five scores in a come-from-behind win over Virginia Tech.
