Man in critical condition after being shot Friday night in Lachine

Montreal police are yet to arrest a suspect, but say there is no major risk to the public.

A 44-year-old man is in critical condition following what police say was an attempted murder Friday night in Lachine.

Montreal police are yet to arrest a suspect, but say the public shouldn’t be concerned.

The incident took place just before 11 p.m. on Louis Paré St. The man was struck by at least one bullet in his upper body.

The victim is in stable, but critical condition, and has yet to talk to police. “He’s not in a state to meet us,” a Montreal police spokesperson said.

Police are present near the scene of the crime and investigators are reviewing camera footage and looking to talk to witnesses, the spokesperson said. “We have information now, but not information that allows us to proceed with arrests.”

Though a suspect is yet to be identified and arrested, the spokesperson said there was no major risk to the public. “I don’t think people need to worry.”
