What’s open and closed in Montreal for National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

Here is a partial list of what will be open and closed in Montreal on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on Monday, Sept. 30, 2024.

Because it is recognized as a federal holiday and not a provincial one, only federal government agencies and federally regulated businesses will be affected.

  • Federal government offices
  • Canada Post offices, with no mail collection or delivery
  • Banks

Open

  • Schools
  • Stores and malls, including grocery stores, pharmacies and liquor stores
  • Quebec and municipal government offices such as Revenu Québec, Accès Montréal and municipal court
  • Regular garbage, recycling and compost collection
  • Ecocentres and Montreal’s 311 information line
  • Montreal’s public markets, including Atwater and Jean-Talon

  • Public-transit networks, operating on normal schedules
  • Parking rules and restrictions, including parking meters
