Drug and firearms raids carried out across the West Island, South Shore

Warrants were being executed by more than 100 police officers in the latest phase of a police operation that began in 2023.

The Sûreté du Québec and several Quebec police forces were engaged in a series of raids Thursday morning as part of an ongoing crackdown on the illegal traffic of drugs and firearms.

Warrants were being executed by more than 100 officers in Pointe-Claire, Longueuil, Boucherville, St-Hubert, St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Mercier, St-Roch-de-Richelieu, St-Marc-sur-Richelieu, Repentigny, St-Côme, Ste-Émilie-de-l’Énergie, Fossambault-sur-le-Lacand  Ste-Catherine-de-la-Jacques-Cartier. This is the latest phase of a police operation that began in 2023.

A total of 11 suspects have been arrested thus far in connection with the investigation.

Thursday’s operation is being carried out as part of the CENTAURE program, a police strategy to maintain pressure on organized crime and reduce gun violence in Quebec.
