Cougar advisory issued for west end of Fish Creek Provincial Park

To avoid a surprise encounter with a cougar, Alberta Parks encourages hikers and parkgoers to make plenty of noise, travel in groups, keep pets on a leash and to be aware of their surroundings.

Several reports of a juvenile cougar have led Alberta Parks to issue an advisory for the west end of Fish Creek Provincial Park. 

The advisory applies to the Votier’s Flats, Bebo Grove, Shannon Terrace and Marshall Springs day use areas in southwest Calgary.

Although an advisory is only in place for these area, the province warns that cougars “can be encountered anywhere in the Kananaskis Region and at any time.”
