Montreal weather: Tuesday is … National Punctuation Day!

It’s also Bluebird of Happiness Day.

Gather up, punctuation fans, this is our day. Take a dash of one, bracket it with another and hyphenate to your heart’s content. You’re set up for a superlatively punctuated day. Period.

A perfectly situated em dash — a personal favourite of this writer — warms the soul on a slightly chilly day.

Montreal’s high of 20 C is nearly three degrees warmer than the historical average for Sept. 24; it’s better than the 1974 record low of 2 C. The day comes with a UV index of 5, or moderate (followed by a nighttime low of 6 C).
