Pro-wrestler Chris Jericho to walk red carpet at Calgary International Film Festival

Pro-wrestler, singer and actor Chris Jericho will be walking the red carpet on Thursday at the Calgary International Film Festival prior to the screening of the horror flick Dark Match.

The film, which was shot in Edmonton, is about a struggling wrestler named Miss Behave (played by Ayshia Issa) who joins fellow grapplers in a series of non-televised bouts in a rural area overrun with Satanists.

Jericho, who grew up in Winnipeg, plays a character named The Prophet, according to Internet Movie Database. While he currently wrestlers for All Elite Wrestling (AEW), Jericho had a long career in the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), where he was world champion numerous times. He was often billed as coming from Calgary, which is where he trained at the Hart Brothers School of Wrestling.

On Thursday, Jericho will be joined by director Lowell Dean and cast mates Issa, Mo Jabari and Justin Lawrick.

Dark Match also stars Calgary expat and Walking Dead star Steven Ogg, Wynonna Earp’s Michael Eklund and Edmonton-raised actress Sara Canning. The red carpet starts at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday at the Globe Cinema. There is an encore screening Sunday, Sept. 29 at Scotiabank Theatre Chinook at 11 a.m.
