Charge him!
A suspect in Texas tried to thwart a crime-fighting robot during a standoff with cops by shooting and tossing a sheet over the bot — but it outwitted him by running him over and spraying him with tear gas, wild footage shows.
Felix Delarosa, 39, had just fired gunshots at police from inside a Days Inn room in Lubbock Wednesday morning, when he was struck by a sheriff’s office sniper, kcbd.com reported.
Police then sent the cop-on-wheels to unleash the gas through a broken window in an effort to make Delarosa, who had barricaded himself in the motel room, surrender, kcbd.com reported.
Delarosa tried to fire a shot at the bomb squad robot and then threw bedding over it to block the eye-stinging gas from seeping into the room, authorities told the station.
But the gadget was on a roll — dodging the bullet, knocking off the sheet and running over Delarosa.
The bot then pinned the wanted man to the ground, preventing him from moving as he writhed on the ground outside the hotel room, footage shows.
Delarosa — who had been wanted by the state’s anti-gang unit in connection with another crime — eventually surrendered, authorities told the station.
During the hours-long standoff, a SWAT team was called to the motel and negotiators tried to speak to the suspect, according to police.
Delarosa was treated at a hospital and taken into custody Wednesday afternoon. The charges he faces were not immediately clear.
