Two dogs are seen pacing and seemingly disturbed in the kitchen and living room area.

Gregg re-enters the kitchen still holding an item behind her back with her left hand, then sits on a stool and reaches for a cell phone with her right hand on the counter and starts typing into it.

Prosecutors allege that Gregg used the phone of her mother, Ashley Smylie, 40, and sent the message, ‘When will you be home honey?’ to lure her stepfather, Heath Smylie, to the Brandon home.

The teen allegedly shot Heath on the shoulder before he wrestled the gun away, Law&Crime reported.

Heath on the witness stand recounted finding his wife.

‘She was laying on her back with her arms over here and a towel covering her face,’ he said.

‘I knew that she had been shot, there was blood around, I’m not sure exactly where, on the right side of her face.’

Prosecutors allege that Gregg also texted a friend and asked her to come over due to an ’emergency’. When the friend arrived, Gregg asked ‘if she had ever seen a dead body before’ and took her to the victim’s body and said her stepfather was the next target.

In court, Heath said Gregg was a ‘sweet little girl’ but appeared like ‘she had seen a demon or something’ on the day of the shooting, March 19.

Gregg, now 15, is charged with murder, attempted murder and evidence tampering in the death of her mother, who was a math teacher in Rankin County.

Footage of Gregg’s arrest shows her exiting a law enforcement vehicle with her hands behind her back and getting handcuffed and questioned by several Rankin County Sheriff’s Office deputies.

‘Obviously you fired with a pistol, am I correct?’ a deputy asks.

Gregg replies: ‘Yes, sir.’

As the deputies swab her hands, Gregg appears nervous and asks what the materials being used are.

‘Is my stepdad OK?’ asks Gregg.

A deputy responds: ‘I don’t know baby, I can’t talk to you about that.’
