Designs have been unveiled for the world’s tallest residential building – and it will honour F1 legend Ayrton Senna.
The Senna Tower, which could stand at 500 metres high if built, will engulf the current tallest tower block – New York City’s Central Park Tower – by 18 metres.
Its home will be in the city of Balneário Camboriú in southern Brazil.
Construction firm FG Empreendimentos is behind the £415,000,000 concept, which was designed by Senna’s visual artist niece Lalalli.
Brazilian Senna is an F1 and sporting iconthanks to his no-holds barred racing style during the late 1980s and early 1990s.
He won three world championships during his career with McLaren before moving to Williams in 1994.
His life was tragically cut short aged 34 after a crash at the San Marino grand prix in May that year.
‘Every great story begins with a journey. A journey of discovery, growth and transformation’, Lalalli said.
‘The Senna Tower is a work of art of monumental proportions: a symbol that inspires us to seek to overcome our limitations and express the greatness within us.
‘The tower has this architectural form precisely to symbolise this heroic journey of overcoming our ideals and the manifestation of our deep potential.’
The block, which has been given environmental and government approval, will hold 204 apartments, 18 ‘suspended mansions’, four duplex penthouses, and two mega triplex penthouses.
In April, plans were unveiled to build the world’s tallest building in Bangkok, Thailand.
Earlier this month, it was revealed people could be partying it up at the world’s highest nightclub in the second tallest building on Earth.
The Burj Azizi in Dubai would stand at 2,379ft high once building work is completed in 2028.
