Calgary police are seeking the public’s help in advancing their investigation of a sexual assault involving a young girl.
The incident took place on Aug. 1 between 8 and 9 p.m. when the victim was with her mother at a popular public swimming area called the Ice Caves within Fish Creek Park.
A man who appeared in his mid-30s sexually assaulted the victim while swimming. Police did not specify the nature of the assault and whether the girl was a minor.
The survivor shared her experience with her mother while leaving the swimming area, after which the parent reported the incident to the police.
CPS say the victim and her mother have seen the suspect and his family several times in the same location through July and August. Police say they have identified the suspect but need more information to further their investigation.
Anyone who believes they are a victim of sexual assault is encouraged to report it regardless of when it occurred, and anyone with information about this or similar incidents is asked to contact police by calling 403-266-1234.
