Lucy Beaumont once jokingly said she didn’t think her marriage to Jon Richardson would ‘last for life’.
The comedians were married in 2015 after being set up by a fellow comedian and mutual friend, After Life’s Roisin Conaty.
The following year the Meet the Richardsons’ stars welcomed their daughter.
However, in April this year they announced they had ‘jointly and amicably made the difficult decision to divorce and go our separate ways’, just sats after the fifth season of their show hit screens.
This week it was also reported that Jon, 42, agreed to a seven-figure payout from Lucy, 41.
Now, a clip from a joint appearance they made on 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown last year shows Lucy offering a frank assessment on their marriage.
In the footage from the show, host Jimmy Carr asked Lucy: ‘What made you decided to settle?’
She then replied: ‘I don’t see this for life, isn’t there a song Just Passing Through? A season, a reason or a lifetime.
‘You meet in your life old souls, new souls, a***holes. Before Jon I’d never had an avocado. We’ve had a lovely life together. We’ve had a daughter.
‘Who knows what will happen in the future.’
A stunned Jon then questioned if Lucy was ‘breaking up now’, then putting his head in his hands.
‘We have a lovely daughter, so it has been worth it,’ she replied.
After re-watching the old clip, one viewer commented: ‘” I don’t see this for life” seems she wasn’t kidding!’
‘This clip did not age well!’ another added.
In a joint statement released in April, the couple shared: ‘After 9 years of marriage, we would like to announce that we have separated.
‘We have jointly and amicably made the difficult decision to divorce and go our separate ways.
‘As our only priority is managing this difficult transition for our daughter, we would ask that our privacy is respected at this sensitive time to protect her well-being. We will be making no further comment.’
The pair starred together in the mockumetary-style show Meet the Richardsons for seven years, amassing a £6 million fortune.
Jon is best known as a team captain on Channel 4’s popular show 8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown and hosting Down the Dog with Matt Forde.
During her career, Lucy has featured on a number of comedy panel shows including Would I Lie To You?, The Last Leg and Have I Got News For You.
They also appeared on Celebrity Gogglebox together.
