Loose Women presenter Ruth Langsford is ‘distracting herself’ by going out with ‘good friends’ as she navigates her divorce from husband of 14 years, Eamonn Holmes.
The former This Morning co-presenters, both 64, announced their separation earlier this year in a joint statement and briefly stepped back from the limelight.
But tensions seem to be brewing after Ruth was reportedly left ‘gobsmacked’ after the GB News presenter took his new girlfriend, Katie Alexander, 42, on a luxury Mediterranean cruise.
He was later spotted at Heathrow airport returning in a wheelchair as reports claimed that Ruth had hired a ‘fierce’ divorce lawyer.
Over the past few weeks, Ruth has been spotted creating plenty of her own fun as she went on a night out with her fellow famous friends such as Rylan Clark and Lizzie Cundy.
The group was seen pouring prosecco and drinking cocktails as they let loose for the night, with Rylan captioning one story: ‘Putting the world to rights’ and another reading: ‘Laughter is the best medicine’.
She’s just trying to get on with life and be around good friends, she’s partying through the pain and is trying to get through it,’ a source told OK! Magazine.
‘Ruth is distracting herself and doing things that make her happy – keeping busy and being around friends, family and work is the only way she can get through it.’
The source added: ‘Ruth is pretty shocked at Eamonn’s behaviour and how he’s moved on so fast, it’s quite devastating.’
An earlier source, close to Eamonn and Katie, told The Sun that their relationship is currently going strong.
‘The cruise is just the latest proof of their closeness.
‘Katie has been telling pals she and Eamonn are going to be for keeps — and now everyone is starting to believe her.
‘Eamonn’s zest for her – the latest being this trip – has wowed Ruth and pals. He has found a new lease of life for sure. Everyone is amazed.’
Eamonn reportedly reached out to Ruth to end speculation after false engagement rumours about him and Katie sparked up last month.
Meanwhile, Ruth offered a cutting response to followers after being asked why she is still wearing her wedding ring, simply replying: ‘Because I’m still married.’
Eamonn is allegedly living in a flat in London while Ruth remains in the Surrey home where she is hoping to start a ‘clean slate’.
The former couple – who share a 22-year-old son, Jack – were together for a total of 27 years when they shared their break-up in May.
Sources claimed to The Sun that their work commitments ‘took them in different directions’ as they drifted apart in recent months, but they were determined to remain friends and ‘keep things amicable’.
