A man knifed his wife to death during a Bible study session and had to be pried away from her by his own family members.

Robert Castillo, 41, has been sentenced to 33 1/2 years behind bars in the stabbing death of Corinna Woodhull, whom he was married to for about two years and had five children with.

Castillo whispered something into Woodhull’s ear as they sat on a couch in March 2023 and she replied, ‘No,’ according to his sister, who was hosting the session at her home.

The husband then took out a hunting knife and stabbed Woodhull numerous times until family members stopped him, his sister told cops.

Multiple people were holding Castillo down in the ‘chaotic scene’ as cops arrived at the St Paul, Minnesota, home and arrested him, CBS News reported.

Woodhull was pronounced dead at a hospital.

‘Corrina had a fire for the Lord that was unmatched. She was beautiful inside and out,’ wrote her friend, Erin Meszaros, in a GoFundMe page.

‘I know she was welcomed home by the Lord with the words “Well done, good and faithful servant!”‘

Castillo pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in March.

He apologized in court on Friday.

‘I’m taking full responsibility for my actions, even if I don’t recall anything that happened that day due to my… drug-induced psychosis,’ said Castillo, according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press.

His lawyer, Mark Austin, said that his client got high with a friend and could not remember anything after early morning on the day of the stabbing.

Family members of both Woodhull and Castillo had advised her against marrying him.

‘It’s a testament to the kind of person she was that she went through with it, thinking she could help him,’ said prosecutor Dan Rait.

‘I can’t believe that she knew her wedding vows would ultimately be her death sentence.’

Divorce papers were discovered in Woodhull’s car after she died by her mother, Linda Castle.

‘She knew it was time to walk away, and that’s why she’s dead,’ said Castle, according to ABC News.

Castillo, of St Paul, has a criminal record including eight past felony convictions including second-degree assault for hammering another woman in 2014.

The couple’s kids are aged 11 to 24.

‘Corrina was an advocate for those in recovery, she had a passion to help others experiencing substance use disorder and domestic abuse and violence. She loved her children so much,’ wrote Meszaros

‘You would find Corrina most days helping at church, volunteering at Non-profits…

The GoFundMe page had raised more than $11,000 as of Monday evening.
