Hollywood legend Kathy Bates has surprised fans with her appearance as she showcased a different frame on the Emmys red carpet on Sunday.
The star was a presenter at the Emmys and the ceremony was held at the Peacock Theater in Downtown Los Angeles.
The 76-year-old wore her hair in a neat style with a stunning makeup look that gave her a sophisticated polished look.
The star wore a sparking long-sleeved dark blue gown which hugged her figure and showed off her extreme weight loss.
The star recently revealed that over the past seven years, she has shed 100 pounds (45.36kg) and hasn’t been this ‘slim’ since she was at university.
Speaking to Variety last week, the actor said: ‘It’s helped me tremendously that, over the last six or seven years, I’ve lost 100 pounds.
‘I don’t think I’ve been this slim since I was in college.’
She also reflected on being at her heaviest in 2011: ‘I had to sit down every moment that I could. It was hard for me to walk.
‘I’m ashamed I let myself get so out of shape, but now I have a tremendous amount of energy.’
Earlier this month, Kathy announced her retirement. ‘This is my last dance,’ Kathy told the New York Times referencing her upcoming new role on the show Matlock.
‘It becomes my life. Sometimes I get jealous of having this talent. Because I can’t hold it back, and I just want my life.’
Speaking further about her role in Matlock, the actor told Deadline: ‘I was thinking about maybe going into semi-retirement until I got Jennie Urman’s script for Matlock.
‘I read it and said ‘Oh, yeah, baby, I gotta do this. It’s amazing.’ It’s not just an episodic, there’s an over-arching mystery that goes through the series. Big twist at the end of the pilot.’
In the legal drama series Kathy will play Madeline Matlock, a lawyer who uses her clever tactics to win her cases and expose wrongdoing. The show begins on Paramount+ on September 22.
