Vancouver talent helps Shōgun collected record amount of Emmy hardware
An epic saga about the political machinations in feudal Japan and adapted from James Clavell’s best-selling novel, was also the first non-English-language series to win in the drama trophy and Sanada, who is also a producer on the show, and Sawai are the first Japanese actors to win Emmys.
“Oh, my goodness. I’m beyond honoured to be here with amazing nominees,” said Sanada onstage collecting his award, adding: “Shōgun taught me that when people work together, we can make a miracle. We can create a better future together.”
The show, which is FX’s most watched ever, has been greenlit for a season two and three.
Shot here in B.C. Shōgun employs many Hollywood North locals and some of those also collected hardware the Creative Emmy Awards.
“The Emmy ceremonies were unreal. I found myself sitting in the audience thinking I was watching it from home on the television, and had to pinch myself to realize it was in real life! Hearing the words “and the Emmy goes to … Shogun!” keeps looping through my mind,” said Klimack a couple of days after the event. “This has been my lifelong dream. Ever since I was a little girl I yearned to be a makeup fx artist … I am still in shock! Thank you to VFS for teaching me everything and preparing me to step into this fast paced, challenging and sometimes gut wrenching industry. It is very rewarding to be recognized among my peers for all of the hard work I have poured into my craft.”
