Police nab driver going 200 km/h in a 70 km/h zone on Montreal highway

The driver, a man in his 30s, got a $2,430 ticket, 30 demerit points and his licence was suspended for seven days.

Provincial police say they stopped a driver going 200 km/h in a 70 km/h zone on a Montreal highway early Saturday.

Sûreté du Québec highway patrol officers caught the speeder heading west on Highway 20 near the Turcotte interchange, police said in a news release.

The driver, a man in his 30s from Candiac, received a $2,430 ticket and 30 demerit points for speeding, police say. ‘

His driver’s licence was also suspended for seven days.

The SQ said officers also ticketed the driver for zigzagging between lanes — giving him an additional fine of $322 and another four demerit points.
