Jamie Lee Curtis has issued an apology after her scathing comments about the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The Halloween actress appeared at San Diego Comic-Con over the weekend when she was asked about the MCU and what ‘phase’ it is in – shortly after it was confirmed that Robert Downey Jr would be making a shock return to the fold.

In a moment that has since gone viral, the 65-year-old didn’t skip a beat and simply told MTV: ‘Bad.’

However, the Hollywood legend has now changed her tune, vowing to steer clear of the ‘mud-slinging sandbox’, and revealing that she has also spoken to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige privately.

‘If I’m a leader, then a leader shouldn’t talk s**t about other collaborative art form creators,’ she penned on social media, alongside a video with Kevin Hart. ‘My comments about Marvel were stupid and I will do better.

‘I’ve reached out to Kevin Feige and will no longer play in that mud slinging sandbox of competition nor will I engage in the toilet paper promotion or game play that is designed for clicks not content. JLC.’

Fans were quick to praise Jamie for owning her remarks and ‘learning’ from her mistakes, commending her in the comments below her Instagram post.

LeaChara wrote: ‘And that is how it is done. No more cancelling people, no more digging your heels in and refusing to acknowledge your mistake…just say sorry and do better.’

Proudmama777 praised: ‘Thank you for being a real person and a real example for anyone who has the eyes to see and the ears to hear. Learning from one’s mistakes is growth and priorities. Good for you.

‘As a 60 yr old woman still learning as I walk through life, I applaud you and wish I knew you IRL. @jamieleecurtis.’

Ch61sanders agreed: ‘This is how we know you really are a good person and it’s not just a facade , you acknowledge your mistakes, apologize then move on having learned.’

As Susanward839 added: ‘This is why you are the GOAT, in my book. You acknowledge missteps and you pledge to do better……and you are always doing better!

‘A person to emulate, my respect is immense.’

Jamie has previously taken aim at Marvel on social media, and compared the success of Everything Everywhere All At Once – which she won the best supporting actress Oscar for in 2023 – to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Taking to Instagram in 2022, she penned: ‘TRUTH ALERT @everythingeverywheremovie is MARVELOUS! It has a deep BEATING heart and BRILLIANT visual treats, EXTRAORDINARY performances and FANTASTIC BEASTLY FIGHT SCENES……

‘AND it COST LESS than the ENTIRE craft service budget on Doctor Strange and/or any other Marvel movie.

‘COMPETITIVE? F**k YES. I wasn’t head cheerleader in high school for nothing. And P.S. our movie has a dynamite dildo fight scene as well as a very erotic hotdog hand mating dance and rocks. #guessiwillneverbecastinamarvelmovie.’

However, Jamie insisted that she would ‘of course’ dust off her superhero costume if film bosses ever came calling.

‘Honestly, I can’t imagine that they will ever come calling because I kicked up some dust,’ she said, via People Magazine, shortly after the post. ‘But I’m a collaborating artist.

‘I work with a lot of people on a lot of different things, and if the role was interesting and if I could bring what I do to it, of course I would [work with Marvel]. What am I going to do, say no? Of course!

‘But I would find it hard to imagine that Marvel’s going to figure out something to do with a 64-year-old woman.’

Someone get Kevin back on the phone…
