The longtime LA home of the late Paul Reubens has sold for $3.8M

Just a couple months after hitting the market, the longtime Los Angeles home of the late actor Paul Reubens — best known for his portrayal of the character Pee-wee Herman — has sold.

Reubens’ estate listed the property in late May, with an initial asking price of $4.99 million that was reduced to $4.5 million last month. Now, Realtor.com reports, a new owner bought the midcentury modern-style abode for $3.8 million, more than $1 million below the original ask.

Reubens, who passed away last year at age 70 following a six-year battle with cancer, purchased the Los Feliz home back in 1985 for just $415,000, The Post previously reported. He paid for it with earnings from Tim Burton’s 1985 film “Pee-wee’s Big Adventure,” which inspired the late 1980s children’s TV series “Pee-wee’s Playhouse.”

Built in 1957, the residence is located atop a promontory in view of the Hollywood sign, and on a cul-de-sac on a private road.

“If you go up there it’s sort of like being in some sort of magical Doctor Doolittle type land, because there are so many animals,” Douglas Elliman agent Juliette Hohnen, who held the listing, told The Post shortly after it hit the market.

One of the customizations Reubens added to the place was an enclosed, aviary-like “catio,” so his beloved feline companions could enjoy the outdoors while protected from the area’s wildlife.

“He sort of created this magical playland for them,” Hohnen noted.

Other personalizations include the primary bedroom’s unique dressing room setup, quirky wallpaper galore and a secret door-equipped bar.

In all, the home measures in at approximately 3,000 square feet and has three bedrooms and three bathrooms. There is a den with a built-in wet bar and a fireplace, as well as a kitchen with a breakfast nook. The two guest bedrooms have a Jack-and-Jill-style bathroom.

Set on 1.4 acres, the home also has a patio and pool that can be accessed by sliding doors off the living room.
