Jamie Oliver has revealed that a Hollywood legend once bought his services as a gift – and he thought it was a prank.
Jamie, 49, has revealed that he was once a birthday gift to Brad Pitt, 60, for his 40th birthday which he celebrated in 2003.
As bizarre as it sounds, the Naked Chef explained that for his milestone celebration, his ex-wife Jennifer Aniston, 55, attempted to get the TV chef to cook at Brad’s big day – but it didn’t exactly go to plan at first.
Jamie explained that he thought the request was a complete wind-up to begin with.
‘I actually was Brad Pitt’s birthday present from Jen,’ Jamie said. ‘She phoned up, and we put the phone down on her three times because we didn’t believe it was her. We thought it was someone trying it on.’
This meant that the Friends icon had to go through his agent to make the request – which Jamie accepted!
‘Basically, we got flown. I just did it. She said, “Would you cook for Brad? He’s well into [Jamie’s TV Show] The Naked Chef and all that business, like he watches it on TV and all that,” the chef explained noting that the Fight Club star was a fan of his TV shows.
‘I said, “Absolutely, and I’ll do it for love, because I love you guys.”‘
He revealed that the whole experience was great, but he doesn’t make a habit of cooking for celebrity clients.
‘I had two students who were only 15 that didn’t even have a passport, and they’d never flown, so their first time flying was like Virgin Upper Class with a bar….’So we went and cooked a meal it was amazing,’ he said.
He then confessed: ‘I don’t purposefully cook for celebrities though, only do it if I’m working in the restaurant and they’re in, or if I’m asked by someone I love or admire which was the case with Jen and Brad.’
‘It was Brad’s 40th, so I’ve known him for 20 years now. They’re both beautiful people. I saw Jen a couple of weeks ago, and she’s everything you would want her to be and more,’ he added.
The chef made this revelation on Nova’s Fitzy & Wippa with Kate Ritchie on Thursday, August 1.
Jamie’s wife Jools Oliver, 49, has previously spoken about this 40th dinner party and revealed that she was invited along to hang out with the A-listers.
‘Jamie was doing the dinner, so I had to sit and socialise with Brad and Rachel and Monica,’ Jools told Red, playfully referring to Jennifer and Courteney Cox as their on-screen Friends characters.
‘I was so embarrassed, I didn’t know what to say. Brad had just done Troy and was taking his top off to show me his abs. From that moment on I just kind of took a step back from it all, it was all too much.’
Jennifer and Brad went on to split in 2005, just a couple of years after this event 40th birthday dinner would have taken place.
