Nicolas Cage’s son pleads not guilty to assaulting mom, claims she ‘needs help’

Nicolas Cage’s son, Weston, pleaded not guilty to charges of assault with a deadly weapon stemming from an alleged altercation with his mother, Christina Fulton.

The estranged mother-son duo was seen arriving at a Los Angeles courthouse on Wednesday, where Weston declared his not guilty plea.

While on her way into the hearing, Fulton declined to comment on the state of their relationship but insisted she wants her son to “get the help he needs.”

After learning about his mom’s comments, Weston flipped the script, telling TMZ photographers that “she needs help.”

The 33-year-old was arrested earlier this month after Fulton, 57, alleged that he assaulted her in April. It’s unclear why the charges were delayed.

The Los Angeles Police Department told People they responded to a call at Fulton’s home after the mixed martial artist allegedly “punched two victims multiple times.” The second alleged victim has not been identified.

Weston reportedly fled the scene before police arrived, per TMZ.

A police report was completed that day and the case was presented to the district attorney’s office on May 10 — a few days after the “Hard Drive” actress was seen out with a black eye and several facial bruises.

The DA officially filed two counts of assault with a deadly weapon against Weston on June 26 and he was taken into custody soon after.

After her son’s arrest, Fulton spoke out about the alleged incident, claiming her son was suffering from a mental health crisis when he allegedly turned on her.

“On April 28th, 2024, around 5:30 p.m., I received urgent messages from friends of my son, Weston Cage, regarding his deteriorating mental state, urging me to come help,” she said in a statement.

“When I arrived to offer support and console him, he was already in the midst of a manic rage,” she alleged. “Within minutes, I was brutally assaulted and sustained serious injuries.”

Fulton claimed she pleaded with police “to detain him for a mental-health evaluation” but they allegedly “refused” her request.

“As a mother, I am deeply saddened and concerned about Weston’s ongoing mental-health crisis,” she concluded. “It is imperative that he receives the help he desperately needs.”

Weston was released on a $150,000 bond reportedly paid for by his famous father. However, Weston’s legal team denies the allegations, claiming he “is simply a victim and witness.”

On Wednesday, a judge issued a protective order for Fulton, prohibiting Weston from contacting his mother until the case is resolved.

The “Leaving Las Vegas” star, 60, and Fulton welcomed Weston one year before their three-year romance ended in 1991.

The movie star is also dad to son Kal-El Cage, 18, with ex-wife Alice Kim, and daughter August, 1, with wife Riko Shibata.
