Love Island season 11 has finally reached a historic end.

Plenty of drama has unfolded as singles from all over the country have competed to find love in a Spanish villa this summer.

The finale of the season on July 29 saw five remaining couples all hoping to be crowned the winner and take home the cash prize.

The first couple to be eliminated, ending in fourth place, was Jess Spencer and Ayo Odukoya.

They were soon followed by Matilda Draper and Sean Stone, with Sean telling host Maya that though he had some things to say to Joey Essex following their falling out, he wouldn’t ‘ruin his birthday.

When it was down to two couple’s – Nicole and Ciaran Davies vs. Mimii Ngulube and Josh Oyinsan- Mimii and Josh were ultimately crowned the winners, making them the first Black couple to win the reality show.

Their historic win follows Kai Fagan and Sanam Harrinanan, the first couple comprised of two people of colour, taking the top prize in 2023.

Mimii and Josh celebrated their victory with a passionate kiss as emotions obviously ran high for the love birds.

Maya Jama – fresh off her shock split from Stormzy – hosted the final episode and checked back in with some of the contestants who were previously kicked out of the villa.

Joey Essex featured heavily in the final after he came under fire throughout his time in the villa, first when being cast and then for his behaviour throughout.

But he told Maya he ‘had no regrets’ about his behaviour, despite backlash.

The finale managed to remain focused on the palpable affection between winners Josh and Mimii, despite Joey’s antics, as Josh read Mimii a poem that brought her to tears.
