The 2024 Olympics are open, and early in the first official day of competition comes swimming events featuring one of Team USA’s brightest stars: Katie Ledecky.
Ledecky, the 7-time Olympic gold medalist, returns for her fourth Olympic Games, and this year, she’ll be competing in four freestyle events.

The United States Women’s Swimming team as a whole will be in action through Sunday, August 4. Their rivalry in the pool with the Australian swimming team will surely be a storyline that defines this competition. Additionally, Ledecky will likely face Canadian Summer McIntosh, 18, who beat her in the 800m back in February; it marked her first loss in the race in 13 years.
