Four young men who died in a car crash near Cheltenham have been named and pictured as loved ones raise money for their funerals.

Narcis, Alex, lyuben and Andrei were inside a black Renault Clio when they crashed into a tree on the A436 in Ullenwood last Sunday.

Police came across the crash site at about 2am.

The men, all aged 20, died at the scene.

According to a GoFundMe, their funerals will be held in Techirghiol, a coastal town in southeastern Romania where ‘most’ of the men grew up.

The fundraiser organiser, David Hearth, said he worked with three of the men at a company in Gloucester.

‘One boy was here for a week’s holiday and didn’t even get a chance to get back from the airport with his three family and friends,’ he added.

‘The accident had such an impact that no one could be saved.

‘When we found out these things, we could not have imagined that there could be such a great pain.’

David said that the men’s sisters had all travelled to Britain to deal with the repatriation of their bodies.

‘Can’t catch a break until we get them home to where family and friends were sadly waiting for them in a coffin,’ he added.

More than £2,700 has been donated so far, with David hoping to raise £4,000.

The Ullenwood stretch of the A436 cuts through the Cotswolds, tying together the Air Baloon Roundabout and the beauty spot Seven Springs.

Locals and county officials this isn’t the first time a crash has happened on the road, which is surrounded by golf courses and woodlands.

‘The A436 is an extremely busy road which has had accidents and some fatalities over the last few years,’ said Paul Hodgkinson, a county councillor for Bourton and Northleach, on X.

‘The Ullenwood Manor Road junction in particular has low visibility. Residents and I have repeatedly called for Glos Highways to radically improve safety there.’

Gloucestershire County Council has said it will conduct a review into the incident.
