Boxing: Jean Pascal and Terry Osias to fight in Laval Sept. 21

The fight was postponed from July 20 to allow Pascal to accompany the Haitian boxing team to the Olympics.

Jean Pascal will return to the ring to face Terry Osias at the Colisée de Laval on Sept. 21.

The two Quebecers will fight for the World Boxing Council’s (WBC) minor light heavyweight title and an opportunity to climb into the world top 15.

“This is my last lap. I promise myself to go to the world championship for a sixth time,” Pascal said. “Getting into the ring against a boxer from Quebec, a guy like Terry, will make boxing fans here happy. As always, I want to deliver the best performance.”

Osias (13-0-0, 6 KOs) won his last fight by unanimous decision against Marcos Karalitzky on March 23.

“This fight represents a unique chance for me to carve out a place among the world elite. I know I can beat Jean and get my hands on this minor title. I have all the tools I need,” Osias said.

The fight was initially scheduled to take place on July 20 at the Montreal Casino cabaret, but it was postponed to allow Pascal to accompany the Haitian boxers to the Paris Olympics. Pascal also represented Canada at the Athens Games in 2004.

On the undercard of the Pascal-Osias clash, practically all the fights will feature Quebecers.
