Francisco Lindor has proved he may have been the year’s biggest All-Star snub in this time period, owning seven of those home runs and hitting for .298 to help put the Mets back in contention.
Lindor cranked out two doubles against Luis Gil back on July 26.
Although Gil has been strong in July with a 3.24 ERA in three starts, his pitch arsenal still feeds right into Lindor’s wheelhouse.
Ten of Lindor’s 19 home runs have come from fastballs, which Gil delivers over 50 percent of the time.
His velocity is hot, averaging more than 96 mph, however, Lindor’s eyes aren’t fooled easily; he whiffs on fastballs at a lower rate than any other pitch (17 percent), according to Statcast.
Gil was here, there and everywhere that night.
