It was a dark day for chocolate lovers last November 9, as Nestlé confirmed it was discontinuing the iconic Caramac bars.

Fans of the caramel-based product were left in tears over the news that they’d no longer be able to get their favourite treat, which some have hailed the ‘best ever’ chocolate.

Caramac first launched in 1959 in the UK, but the company said sales had started to decline after more than 60 years on the supermarket shelves.

And thus, they decided to stop producing the sweet treat.

But there’s good news for those who have been missing out on their Caramac fix, as the brand is coming back to shops this week.

For a limited time, shoppers will be able to get their hands on the classic Caramac single bar, a three-bar multipack as well as a sharing bag of Caramac buttons.

You’ll be able to find all of these in B&M, Iceland, Spar, and wholesale and convenience retailers nationwide.

The sweets launch from today (July 23), but it’s not yet known how long they’ll be around for exactly — so you might want to grab them while you can.

Fans have already been sharing their thoughts on the news, with some begging the chocolate giant to bring Caramac back for good.

On X, @MatthewVernon3 wrote: ‘Bring it back forever. It’s a solid chocolate bar and you’re missing out by removing it. Caramilk’s got nothing on Caramac.’ Similarly, @bravo1982 said: ‘Never should have been taken away.’

While @SMTHFC1 posted: ‘I should bloody-well think so! Normality and common sense have been restored’, and @johnjpcarlin proclaimed: ‘This was the best chocolate ever.’

@deepblue001 aptly branded it the ‘return of the ‘Mac’.

However, not everyone was pleased by the return of the chocolate bar, as @nickw84 commented: ‘The way that Caramac has only been gone for not even nine months yet and they’re already bringing it back for nostalgia. A little bit cringe even.’

Others branded Nestlé a ‘tease’ while some were disappointed that other discontinued favourites weren’t also making a comeback, such as the Drifter bar and Texan bar.

Lisa Butterworth, Chocolate Classics Brand Manager for Nestlé UK & Ireland, said: ‘The calls for the return of Caramac were heard loud and clear, and for this unique bar we wanted to create a special opportunity for fans to enjoy it once more.

‘We hope that this limited release gives people the opportunity to savour and stock up on Caramac as a gesture of our appreciation for the longstanding support of our confectionery fans throughout the years.’

Since axing Caramac, Nestlé has launched a range of other chocolate products in the UK, including Neapolitan ice cream-inspired Aero Melts, Cookie Dough Munchies, Raspberry Ripple Milkybar, KitKat Chunky White with Lotus Biscoff, and Aero Choco-Hazelnut flavour.

A few other beloved discontinued chocolate products recently returned to shops in the UK, including Milky Way Crispy Rolls, and the 90s Cadbury Top Deck.
