How good is the Mets offense, really?

Sure, the Mets’ offense has stumbled coming out of the All-Star break, scoring just seven combined runs in dropping two of three games against the lowly Marlins.

But the bulk of evidence supporting the claim makes it difficult to argue: The Mets have — or are damn near having — an elite offense.

The Mets have 10 players with an OPS-plus over 100 and at least 50 at-bats — tied for most in MLB and most in the National League. An OPS-plus of 100 represents a league-average hitter at his position.

For comparison, the Yankees (59-42), who lived down to Luis Severino’s barb about having “two good hitters” in Sunday’s 6-4 loss to the Rays, have just four players with an OPS-plus over 100 in at least 50 at-bats.
