Sir Mick Jagger is reportedly leaving a £20 million payday on the table after refusing to write an autobiography.

The 80-year-old rock icon is a founding member of The Rolling Stones with plenty of stories to tell as part of one of the world’s most legendary bands for more than 60 years.

However, he is said to have turned down multi-million pound deals to put pen to paper because he is ‘not interested’ in revisiting the past.

‘Mick has drawn the line under ever writing a book about his career and life,’ an insider said. ‘The sums are well over the £20million mark but he is all about looking forward, not reviewing the past.’

It’s said his answer is a ‘definite’ no, and Sir Mick isn’t enamoured by the idea of spending a year and a half working on that kind of project.

‘To spend 18 months or more working with an editor is not anything he is interested in,’ the source added to The Sun. ‘So it’s now a definite, “Thanks, but no thanks.” ‘

Over the years, the life and times of the (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction singer has been documented in several biographies.

Towards the end of last year, Sir Mick – who has eight children from various relationships – admitted nothing ever gets ‘easier’ in life as he learned to become more and more aware of his ‘mortality’ in a social circle where he was the oldest.

He told The Guardian: ‘No, it doesn’t get easier at all. There’s a lot of people around your age, they’re dying all the time. I don’t have any friends older than me, only one. Apart from the band, all my friends are much younger.

‘You’re aware of your own mortality from quite an early age – it’s not something that occurs to you in your 70s.’

In 2023 the legendary rockers released a new album, Hackney Diamonds, over 60 years after they first formed.

And Sir Mick has insisted the group has no plans to sell the rights to their back catalogue because he doesn’t think his offspring ‘need’ the vast amount of money it would bring.

‘The children don’t need $500million (£411million) to live well. Come on,’ Sir Mick said in a new interview.

The star is dad to 52-year-old Karis, who he shares with Marsha Hunt, 51-year-old Jade with Bianca Jagger, Elizabeth, 39, Georgia May, 31, and sons James, 38, and Gabriel, 25 with Jerry Hall and 24-year-old son Luca with Luciana Morad Gimenez.

He shares his youngest child, six-year-old Deveraux, with girlfriend Melanie Hamrick.

Speaking to WSJ magazine, Sir Mick suggested the idea of his wealth going to charity instead, and trying to make a difference as he pondered: ‘You maybe do some good in the world.’
