If you’re waiting on a reply from Rylan Clark in the DMs, you might have to be patient for a few more days.

The X Factor alum has been ‘banned’ from sending messages on Instagram after sharing unintentionally explicit content.

Rylan, 35, was celebrating his mum Linda’s birthday on Saturday night (July 20) when the social media platform informed him of the restriction.

Taking to his feed in a since-deleted statement, he wrote to his followers: ‘Anyone that’s messaging me I’m not being rude but I’ve been banned for 3 days for sending a picture of a plant that looks like a Willy.’

‘Back Wednesday x”, he informed.

On his Instagram Story, Rylan later shared a screenshot of his inbox reading ‘Temporarily unavailable’.

The reason stated: ‘Something you sent in a chat went against our Community Guidelines. You can’t send messages for three days’.

While the news is annoying for Rylan, it’s given everyone a good laugh, including some of his famous pals.

The likes of Scott Mills and Faye Tozer from Steps couldn’t help but giggle at his misfortune, writing ‘Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaahaaha’ and ‘Bahahahahahaha’ respectively in the comments.

Lizzie Cundy also joked about sending NSFW content herself, saying: ‘I’m definitely banned then… ‘

Rylan’s beloved mum celebrated her 72nd birthday in style this weekend, surrounded by loved ones.

The Celebrity Big Brother winner posted a snap alongside Linda and his brother, Jamie, before presenting her with an impressive chocolate cake.

‘Someone had a lovely night’, he joked in the caption of the snap showing Linda holding the cake at arm’s length, a huge sparkler in the middle.

Linda was inundated with birthday wishes from her son’s showbiz mates, including Rob Rinder, who commented: ‘Happy birthday mum’.

The Essex-born TV star regularly shares an insight into his life with fans online, from his late-night party antics to travelling around the world with his job.

Alas, the response isn’t always so positive.

Recently, the host was forced to shut down a troll who made a crude jibe about his start in the business.

On X, the anonymous troll named @mexiren, wrote in response to Rylan asking how to get tickets for the Euro 2024 final: ‘Do what you’ve done to get a career. Knees and suck.’

But, in true Rylan style, the former It Takes Two host had the last laugh.

Remaining unfazed and in a clapback that many declared ‘won the internet’, Rylan responded: ‘If it was that easy mate I’d be managing England…..’ along with the middle finger emoji.

The reality icon has spoken at length in the past about trolling and the effects of having his private life scrutinised.

In his documentary, Rylan: Football, Homophobia and Me, the lifelong West Ham fan explored his own ‘complicated’ relationship with the sport and the ongoing fight for LGBTQ+ inclusion.

Also, in his travel show with Judge Rinder, Rylan got deep about body issues, saying: ‘I’ve made no secret about the fact that I’ve not got that much confidence in myself.’

When asked to strip off for a life drawing class, he was hesitant, saying: ‘I don’t like my arms, I don’t like my legs, I don’t like my body.’

‘I just feel like, in my past, I’ve been made to feel quite s**t by people about everything,’ he confessed.

‘I feel like I’ve let Rob down if I don’t do it. I’ve just gotta not care.’

Eventually, the former singer plucked up enough courage to take part, despite feeling more ‘exposed’ than ever.

‘I think people would think that I think I look good, and I think this and I think that when, actually, it’s the complete opposite. I do not look handsome,’ he confessed.

‘I just feel like I’ve got to be perfect and I’m not.’

Their series was filled with hilarious ups and tear-jerking downs across three episodes, most notably with Rylan leaving Rob in floods of tears when he recalled wanting to ‘end it all’ after his divorce.

Thankfully now in a much better place, Rylan recalled: ‘It was the worst experience of my life. I just went on a downward spiral. I tried to end it, I tried to finish myself off.’

Rylan and his ex-husband Dan split in 2021 following six years of marriage, with the star forced to take time off work.
