Texas-bound Air Biden migrant flights need to be grounded

Amazing: Gov. Greg Abbott has managed to largely control the state’s long border with Mexico, despite determined Team Biden efforts to interfere — so the Department of Homeland Security has responded by flying illegal migrants in from California, whose Gov. Gavin Newsom won’t deign to copy Abbott’s effective measures.

Is this vengeance for Abbott proving that the tide can be stopped?

Though not by President Biden’s supposed crackdown: The inflow is still well above the level that he has announced would trigger a stoppage of (some) “asylum seekers.”

And, as The Post’s Jennie Taer reported exclusively last week, migrant holding centers near San Diego are overflowing.

DHS chief Alejandro Mayorkas’ solution: At least four flights a week (at $80,000 per flight) of 150 migrants a pop from California to Texas’ Rio Grande Valley.

This, after Abbott beat back multiple DHS lawsuits that tried to block his barge-barriers on the Rio Grande and other border-security innovations.

Months ago, Abbott ordered the Texas National Guard to secure Shelby Park in Eagle Pass, and (after more DHS efforts to interfere) border-jumpers there dropped from 2,000 to 3,000 a day to around five.

Another humiliation for Mayorkas; it sure looks like these flights are retribution.

Meanwhile, the loopholes and exemptions embedded in Biden’s “crackdown” order exempt migrants from over 100 countries; Border Patrol agents have also told The Post that anyone pregnant or injured is also being released with a future court date.

The only possible conclusion is that Biden and Mayorkas want the migrant influx to continue.

Worse, they’ll use federal power to punish anyone who gets in the way.
