A hiking trail in Kananaskis is closed until further notice after bears were spotted in the area.
On Tuesday, Alberta Parks announced the closure of Rawson Lake Trail and Basin including Sarrail Ridge citing “multiple grizzly bears in the area” as the reason.
The agency warns that while this advisory is for a specific area, bears can be encountered anywhere in the Kananaskis region at any time.
It offers suggestions for avoiding a bear encounter, such as making plenty of noise and travelling in groups, being aware of your surroundings, keeping your pet on a leash and carrying bear spray.
