Laval police arrest three suspects in drug investigation

The arrests follow an investigation launched last February based on information received from the public.

Laval police announced Thursday they had arrested three suspects in connection with a five-month investigation into drug trafficking.

Joseph Abou Rjeily, 24, as well as Elie Alam and Rehman Ateeq Ur, both 19, were arrested July 10 and face a series of drug charges. Rjeily and Alam remain in custody pending their next court appearance while Ur was released and is scheduled to return to court on Sept. 23.

Their arrests follow an investigation launched last February based on information received from the public concerning illegal drug sales in Laval. Search warrants executed July 10 on three residences and four vehicles yielded quantities of crack, cocaine and hashish, a bullet-proof vest, ammunition for a 9-mm firearm and more than $91,000 in cash.
