What to do this weekend in Calgary: July 19-21

The Calgary Stampede has come and gone, but the city still has a full event schedule for the coming weekend.

Fiestaval Latin Festival

Fiestaval is a free and family-friendly multicultural arts and entertainment festival highlighting the Latin American Culture. The festival takes place over three days, offering hundreds of performances and authentic Latin food. There is also a kids area and beer gardens.

Where: Calgary Olympic Plaza

When: Friday and Saturday: 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday: 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Cost: Free


Dachshund Dash

This Saturday is Century Downs Racetrack and Casino’s first ever Dachshund Dash. The event will feature live music, food and drinks, prizes and Dachshund racing. There will be a bonus prize for the best dressed Dachshund.

Where: Century Downs Racetrack and Casino

When: Saturday: 5 p.m., immediately following live horse racing


Lemonade Day Calgary

This city-wide event supports kids aged 5 to 13 in their entrepreneurial pursuits. Kids across Calgary will set up lemonade stands, learning how to name, brand, and run a lemonade business. Leading up to the event, young business owners will participate in a 15-step Lemonade Day curriculum, preparing them for July 20 when stands get set up, lemonade gets sold and prizes are available to be won.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem

The Confluence Historic Site and Parkland is screening Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem this weekend. A ticket to the show includes free popcorn and admission to the Confluence Cultural Centre. There will also be other snacks and beverages available to purchase.

Where: The Confluence Historic Site and Parkland

When: Sunday: 2 to 4 p.m.

Calgary Stampeders legacy night

The Calgary Stampeders host the BC Lions for legacy night this weekend. The game will celebrate the career of Wally Buono as his name is added to the wall of fame at McMahon Stadium. Pre-game celebrations will include a tailgate party, alumni meet and greet opportunities, beer gardens, games and prizes.
