Kamala Harris called JD Vance and left voicemail of congratulations after Trump VP announcement

MILWAUKEE, Wisc. — Vice President Kamala Harris called GOP Ohio Sen. JD Vance on Monday and left him a congratulatory voicemail after the Republican vice presidential pick didn’t pick up, a Biden-Harris campaign official confirmed to The Post.

Harris, 59, made the call after former President Donald Trump announced Vance, 39, as his VP pick on Truth Social.

The vice president also said in her voicemail that “she hoped to see [Vance] at the CBS News debate,” the campaign official added.

The Biden campaign has accepted a veep debate hosted by CBS News, but the Trump camp has been pushing for a Fox News debate instead.

The conversation about a vice presidential debate has been stalled since May, when the two 2024 campaigns first laid out their terms for the head-to-head match-up.

Republican National Committee delegates unanimously nominated Vance as the GOP’s official vice presidential candidate during their convention in Milwaukee.

Harris congratulated him on his selection and “welcomed him to the race,” CNN reported.

If elected with Trump, Vance would be the second youngest vice president in American history.

“After lengthy deliberation and thought, and considering the tremendous talents of many others, I have decided that the person best suited to assume the position of Vice President of the United States is Senator J.D. Vance of the Great State of Ohio,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

“J.D. honorably served our Country in the Marine Corps, graduated from Ohio State University in two years, Summa Cum Laude, and is a Yale Law School Graduate, where he was Editor of The Yale Law Journal, and President of the Yale Law Veterans Association.

“J.D.’s book, ‘Hillbilly Elegy,’ became a Major Best Seller and Movie, as it championed the hardworking men and women of our Country,” the former president wrote.

“J.D. has had a very successful business career in Technology and Finance, and now, during the Campaign, will be strongly focused on the people he fought so brilliantly for, the American Workers and Farmers in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, Minnesota, and far beyond…”
