One of the critically injured victims caught in the crossfire of Saturday’s assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump has been identified as James Copenhaver, a 74-year-old retired grandpa and registered Democrat.
Copenhaver, a resident of Moon Township, Pa., is in stable condition at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Despite his official party affiliation, Copenhaver has shared many pro-Trump posts on his social-media accounts.
He is married with two kids and posts often about his grandchildren on Facebook.
Copenhaver, a retired Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board employee — is one of three attendees who were shot by loner gunman Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, during the failed assassination attempt.
Volunteer fire chief Corey Comperatore, 50 of Sarver, Pa., died of his injuries, while David Dutch 57, of New Kensington, Pa., was also shot and is currently in stable condition.

“These victims and their families are certainly in our thoughts today,” said Col. Christopher Paris, Pennsylvania State Police commissioner, in a statement.
“The Pennsylvania State Police continue to work tirelessly alongside our federal, state and local partners as this investigation continues.”
Crooks purchased 50 rounds of ammunition hours before the shooting, according to reports.
The Secret Service is facing backlash over how the deranged young man was able to get 130 yards from the stage where Trump was speaking to launch his murderous spree.
Crooks shot and grazed Trump on his ear with a rifle his father purchased legally.
The gunman was swiftly killed by federal agents.
