Holly Marie Combs pens heartbreaking tribute to ‘better half’ Shannen Doherty after her death: ‘My best friend’

Holly Marie Combs penned a heartbreaking tribute to “better half” and former “Charmed” co-star Shannen Doherty after her death.

“My better half of 31 years. There is a hollow in my chest and I can’t seem to catch my breath. A part of me is missing even though I know exactly what you would say to me right now,” she wrote on Instagram Monday alongside a carousel of pics of them together.

The “Pretty Little Liars” alum, 50, said Doherty’s “undying spirit” will live in her and her sons, Finley, 20, and Riley, 17, whom the late actress loved as her own.

“They will walk with your sense of purpose and pride. They will be truthful and stand up for what is right. No matter what and zero f–ks given. Your fire will live on in them and the many other Charmed ones you helped raise,” she wrote.

“A fierce fighter til the end. My most ardent champion. My loyal protector. My best friend. You taught me the meaning of family. You were and will be forevermore my sister. I love you.”

Combs also shared a video montage of her former “Charmed” co-star to her Instagram Story.

On Sunday, Doherty’s longtime publicist, Leslie Sloane, confirmed to People that the “Beverly Hills, 90210” alum passed away following a years-long battle with cancer. She was 53.

“It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the passing of actress Shannen Doherty. On Saturday, July 13, she lost her battle with cancer after many years of fighting the disease,” Sloane said.

“The devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend was surrounded by her loved ones as well as her dog, Bowie. The family asks for their privacy at this time so they can grieve in peace.”

Combs and Doherty had remained close friends after the latter exited “Charmed” when her character was killed off in Season 3 in 2000.

The two previously claimed their co-star Alyssa Milano pressured the network to fire Doherty.

“‘We were told [by Alyssa], it’s her or [Shannen], and Alyssa has threatened to sue us for a hostile workplace environment,’” Combs claimed a producer told her while discussing the incident on a Doherty’s “Let’s Be Clear” podcast.

Doherty added that she did “not ever remember being mean” on set.

Milano, 51, later said she was “sad” about the feud because it was overshadowing the success of the Constance M. Burge-created series, which ran from 1998 to 2006.

“I’m the most sad for the fans. I am the most sad that a show that has meant so much to so many people has been tarnished by a toxicity that is still to this day, almost a quarter of a century later, still happening,” she admitted during a “Charmed” panel at MegaCon Orlando in February.

“I’m sad that people can’t move past it. I’m sad that we all can’t just celebrate the success of a show that meant so much to all of us.”

Despite the drama, Milano shared a tribute to her frenemy Doherty after learning about her death.

“It’s no secret that Shannen and I had a complicated relationship, but at its core was someone I deeply respected and was in awe of,” Milano said in a statement to Page Six Sunday.

“She was a talented actress, beloved by many, and the world is less without her. My condolences to all who loved her.”
