Shannen Doherty was spotted enjoying quality time with friends just weeks before her tragic death.

The 90210 and Charmed actress died aged 53 after she was first diagnosed with breast cancer nine years ago.

Last month, the star appeared in high spirits as she was seen walking arm-in-arm with friends during an outing in Malibu.

The actor walked alongside two friends and they left popular eatery Kristy’s in the California city after dinner.

Doherty kept it casual for the outing, wearing blue jeans and a matching polo shirt as well as a black hat to combat the Malibu sun.

It came weeks before her death was announced by her publicist Leslie Sloane in a statement to People.

‘It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the passing of actress Shannen Doherty. On Saturday, July 13, she lost her battle with cancer after many years of fighting the disease,’ she said.

Doherty was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer in 2020, and recently revealed that it had spread to her brain, as well as her bones.

Two weeks before her death, she discussed her illness and said she felt hopeful, but also scared.

‘I have no idea how long I’m going to be on chemo for,’ she began on her podcast Let’s Be Clear.

‘I have no idea if it’s going to be three months, or if it’s going to be six months. Or if after three months it’s not working, if we’re going to change again.

‘That’s not something that I can predict. It’s not something my doctors can predict. It’s scary. It’s a big wake up call.

‘At the same time there is some positivity there, that because my molecular structure of my cancer cells changed recently, it means there’s a lot more protocols for me to try.

‘For the first time in a couple of months I feel hopeful. Because there are so many more protocols now, whereas before I was hopeful but I was still getting prepared.’

She also spoke about her funeral plans, saying her final goodbye should be a ‘celebration’ and a ‘party’, instead of an emotional ceremony.
