Rafael Nadal has fired a message of support to fellow Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, who faces his old rival Novak Djokovic in the Wimbledon final today.

Djokovic is attempting to clinch his eighth Wimbledon singles trophy which would see him equal Roger Federer as the most successful man in the history of SW19.

Nadal, though, is firmly supporting Alcaraz, who triumphed over Djokovic in a blockbuster five-set final at last year’s Championships and is aiming to land a rare Channel Slam after his recent French Open title win.

The duo will compete together for Spain at the upcoming Olympic tennis tournament in Paris – but before that – Alcaraz is seeking his fourth major title.

Nadal has got one eye on the All England Club showdown and posted on his Instagram story: ‘Vamosssss [Carlos Alcaraz] & [Spain national football team].’

Nadal and Alcaraz will be hoping Spain’s football team emerge victorious against England in the Euro 2024 final later tonight.

Alcaraz was awkwardly booed after his Wimbledon semi-final win over Daniil Medvedev on Friday for saying that it will be a ‘good day’ for Spanish people.

Why isn’t Rafael Nadal at Wimbledon and will he ever play there again?

Spanish legend Rafael Nadal is not playing at Wimbledon in 2024 despite nearing his retirement from professional tennis.

The 38-year-old is finally coming to the end of his incredible career and many fans are desperate to see him in action before he decides to hang up his racket.

Nadal is not best known for his skills on the grass courts and is better known by his nickname ‘The King of Clay’.

That’s due to his incredible success at the French Open but his decision to skip Wimbledon still came as a surprise given its status.

Wimbledon is arguably the biggest event the sport has to offer – so why is Nadal not playing this year’s Championships before he retires? Click here to find out.
