Man, 58, charged after bizarre attack on woman’s vehicle, onlooker

After entering her vehicle, a man blocked a woman from leaving and repeatedly punched the driver-side window, police said

A 58-year-old Londoner is facing charges after what police describe as a bizarre downtown incident involving a man keeping a woman he didn’t know from exiting a parking spot and then chasing another person with a rock.

London police say it was just before 10:30 p.m. Wednesday when a woman was returning to her vehicle in the area of Kent and Talbot streets and found a man she didn’t know leaning against it.

The woman asked the man to move so she could get into her vehicle, police said, and he did so. But once she was inside the vehicle, the man began blocking her from leaving and repeatedly punched the driver-side window, police said.

The woman left her vehicle and contacted police. The man then chased a nearby witness with a rock in his hand before leaving the area, police said. Officers found a suspect near the intersection of Talbot and Albert streets and he was arrested.

There were no physical injuries, police said, adding they obtained a video recording of part of the incident.

Todd Hunt, 58, of London is charged with:

  • forcible confinement
  • assault
  • assault with a weapon

He is next scheduled to appear in London court on Aug. 20, police said.
