Who: The James Barker Band, Nashville North, 10 p.m.
Formed in Woodville, Ont. — which has a population of less than 1,000 — this quartet has become a Canadian country-music success story by making waves in Nashville. (At least they come to their small-town appreciation, a hallmark of mainstream country these days, honestly.) The band deals in familiar bro-themes with hit songs such as New Old Trucks, a duet with superstar Dierks Bentley, and Wastin’ Whiskey. So if you haven’t got your fill of whiskey, trucks and small-town worship, the James Barker Band is for you.
Who: Steve Aoki, Cowboys Music Festival, Gates open at 2 p.m.
One of Cowboys’ more unusual pairings will have the adventurous American DJ, EDM artist and producer Steve Aoki co-headlining with Tyler Hubbard, formerly of mainstream-country duo Florida Georgia Line. Aoki has used global influences in a highly successful career that has seen him expanding the boundaries of electronic dance music, winning acclaim and a Grammy nod in the process.
