Six people arrested in connection with trio of violent crimes in Laval

The crimes include alleged firearms offences and stabbings. Two of the suspects are minors.

Laval police said on Thursday they had made half a dozen arrests in connection with three separate incidents of violent crimes committed on their territory over the past four weeks.

On June 14, police received a 911 call reporting shots had been fired at a group of young people near the intersection of Corbusier and Carrefour Blvds. in the Chomedey district.

Officers arriving found no one had been injured, and they discovered a firearm when searching the area. Subsequent investigation identified the suspect as Hakeem Émile, 18, and on July 3 he was arrested in an operation that included a SWAT team. He faces charges of discharging a firearm and possession of a prohibited weapon and remains in custody pending his next court appearance.

Working with Montreal police and special constables of the Société des transports de Montréal, three suspects were identified and arrested. They are Zaky Dalichaouch, 19, and Raycel Gongora Labrada and Jonathan Paulino Castro, both 20. The three face charges of aggravated assault and armed assault.

The two stabbing victims are recovering from their injuries.

The third incident occurred on July 4 and saw police arrest two minors who had been seen near a bar in the Chomedey district. The pair fled when they saw police. Police allege that one of them threw away a 9-mm pistol as he did so.

A search of the two suspects yielded an edged weapon and a container of pepper spray. One minor remains detained pending his appearance inn Youth Court on July 15 while the other was released pending his next court appearance on Aug. 12.

Laval police are urging anyone with any information on these are any other crimes of violence to contact their criminal information line at 450-662-4636.
