5 things to do this weekend in Calgary: July 12 to 14

The Calgary Stampede comes to a close this weekend, with music and entertainment scheduled throughout.

If you’ve already got your Stampede fix or are looking for other activities, here are five events taking place in Calgary this weekend.


Summer Olympics trivia night

The Confluence Historic Site and Parkland is hosting a summer Olympics trivia night ahead of the official games. This 18+ event will be serving drinks and snacks, and the winning team will score a private movie screening.

When: Friday, 6:30 p.m.

Cost: $25 per team (4 to 6 players)


Showdown at Heritage Park: A Wild West Adventure

This family-friendly event features a cowboy buffet and western entertainment. After dinner, there will be a wild west gunfight on main street. This event is brand new, created as a celebration of the park’s 60th anniversary.

Telus Spark Science Centre

Telus Spark Science Centre has several bug-themed summer activities scheduled, including larger-than-life monster insects taking over the Brainasium, and Entomologist Fridays. The centre also has an AI: More Than Human exhibit on for the summer.

When: Friday and Saturday: 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Immersive Disney Animation

The Disney animation immersive experience takes you inside classic Disney films, celebrating the art and legacy of Walt Disney. Exhibits are also designed to be interactive, and offer photo opportunities. Tickets are discounted this weekend, and a ticket to the experience will also include admission into Stampede Park.

Cavalry FC vs. York United FC

Catch a western-themed Calgary Cavalry FC match this weekend. The night promises line dancing, George Canyon, face painting and more. The family-friendly event will also offer a chance to meet the players.
