This Morning star Sam Rubin’s cause of death has been revealed.
The Hollywood reporter died aged 64 in May, with co-stars paying tribute to the veteran broadcaster.
The journalist, who has collected Emmys and a Golden Mike award over the years for his broadcasting achievements, began his daily Hollywood news segment on TV channel KTLA in 1991.
The outlet shared the news of the cause of his death on Tuesday, writing in a statement: ‘Beloved KTLA 5 News entertainment anchor Sam Rubin died from a heart attack brought on by coronary artery disease, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner confirmed on Tuesday.
‘Rubin, 64, went to a hospital with stomach pain on the morning of May 10 after calling 911.
‘He was pronounced dead in the emergency room shortly after 11am.
‘In its report, the Medical Examiner said Rubin suffered from “ischemic heart disease due to atherosclerotic coronary artery disease.”‘
The statement added that Rubin’s ‘heart stopped due to a lack of blood and oxygen’, with the medical examiner confirming his manner of death was ‘natural’.
A full coroner’s report is expected to be released by the end of the week.
He is survived by his wife Leslie and four children.
This Morning stars Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley paid tribute to Rubin on the programme, saying: ‘We’re going to start the show today with very heavy hearts.’
He added: ‘He will be dearly missed. Our thoughts are with Sam’s wife Lesley and his four children, and of course his KTLA colleagues at this time.’
Cat hailed him as the ‘best in the biz’, as an emotional montage reflecting on Rubin’s life and career aired.
‘You can see why he was loved by so many people, looking back on those clips,’ Ben said, before the presenter’s friend Ross King said: ‘I get lost for words at times, he was a lovely man.’
Sharon Osbourne also paid tribute, writing on social media: ‘A true gentleman. One of the kindest men in the business. Sam will be missed by so many. My deepest condolences to his family.’
