On AWD models, a second electric motor powers the rear wheels as needed for extra traction. The Maverick Hybrid uses a 2.5L four-cylinder engine that combines with the hybrid system for 191 horsepower and 155 lb-ft of torque, and with an automatic CVT. It’s strictly front-wheel drive, while the gas-only model comes only in AWD. The hybrid is available in all three trims – XL, XLT, and Lariat – and standard or optional features can include heated seats, eight-inch centre screen with premium audio, sunroof, tie-down bed locking rails, and connected navigation. Towing capacity is a maximum of 2,000 lbs.
