The Mets have made a move to help their beleaguered bullpen.
On Tuesday, the Mets acquired reliever Phil Maton in a trade with the Rays for cash considerations or a player to be named later.
To clear room on the 40-man roster, the Mets designated lefty Joey Lucchesi for assignment.
Maton, 31, has a 4.58 ERA and 1.33 WHIP in 35 1/3 innings this season.
He owns a 4.28 ERA over an eight-year big league career.
The right-hander is under contract for the remainder of this year and has a club option for 2025.
