Who: The Beaches, Coca-Cola Stage, 9:30 p.m.
It may have taken a decade, but it seems the world has finally caught up with this Toronto quartet. The Beaches, made up of sisters Jordan and Kylie Miller, on lead vocals and bass, and guitar, respectively, and guitarist/keyboardist Leandra Earl and drummer Eliza Enman-McDaniel, reached new heights with their sophomore full-length Blame My Ex, which features co-writes with Calgary artist Lowell. Fuelled by the break-up tune, Blame Brett, the album has been making waves in Canada and abroad. Anyone who caught the act last year on the Coca-Cola Stage know they can back it up as a live act as well.
Who: Chromeo, Big Four Roadhouse, 11 p.m.
Montreal’s electro-funk duo Chromeo have been offering their patented mix of dance, rock, synth-pop and soul for 22 years, earning a number of Juno nominations and even a Grammy nod in 2019 for Best Engineered Album. Adult Contemporary, the act’s sixth album, came out earlier this year and won praise for showcasing maturity without losing their beats and sense of fun.
