It’s a big year for Marisa Abela as the Back to Black actress announces her engagement to West End star Jamie Bogyo.
Marisa, 27, starred as the Tears Dry on Their Own icon in the Amy Winehouse biopic, which was released in April.
In a sweet nod to the late singer, Jamie popped the question on Primrose Hill in London – one of Winehouse’s favourite places.
‘She said she’ll think about it,’ the 31-year-old theatre star wrote on Instagram with a video of them beaming at the camera and a glinting ring on Marisa’s finger.
Replying to her new fiance, the Industry actress wrote: ‘A weeping mess.’
While Marisa has found fame on the big screen, Jamie is a beloved musical performer and took the lead role of Christian in the Moulin Rouge revival in the West End.
Jamie shared some other pictures of Marisa and a video of them passionately kissing, which she then shared on her own Instagram.
The post was filled with well-wishes, including from Hunger Games actor Sam Claflin who wrote: ‘you guys ❤️.’
Tony Bogyo added: ‘We are so excited for you! Welcome to the family Marisa!’
Marisa’s engagement announcement has been better received than her turn as the late Winehouse, which was widely panned.
On Rotten Tomatoes, the critics’ score sits at a measly 34% while the audience score is far higher at 86%.
Director Sam Taylor-Johnson – wife of James Bond potential Aaron Taylor-Johnson – defended the film when she spoke to
, she responded: ‘Go see it, is, I think, the smartest thing for me to say to that because I think it’s very hard to judge from a photograph or stories.
If you go see the film, I think you’ll understand what I wanted to do was to celebrate and uphold her.
‘And I think that people will enjoy the music.’
